One way is to write a large number of articles and submit them to a small number of high-traffic article directories online. The way that this works is that by writing a large number of articles, you actually get direct traffic from these high-traffic article directories.

The second way, and the subject of this article, is to write a small number of keyword- optimized articles and submit them to a wide range of article directories online. This allows you to achieve high numbers of inbound links, or backlinks, into your web site, which induces the search engines to view your web site as having more credibility, and thus you receive higher search engine rankings. This, of course, is the mechanism by which you receive more traffic – as your search engine rankings improve, your traffic increases.

So how do you do it?

1) Do keyword research and find out for which keywords it is possible for you to achieve high search engine rankings.

2) Create individual web pages optimized for each of these keywords.

3) Write multiple articles individually optimized for each of the keywords.

4) Include text anchor links in each article pointing back to the respective web page where the same keyword is also optimized.

5) Submit these articles to multiple online article directories. It is only important that you submit to a wide range of directories, not that they have any specific amount of traffic – the important thing is the inbound links to your web site.
