What Does Your Website Say About Your Business?

With the advent of Internet technology, the entire scope on business, especially home business, has changed. The Internet offers aspiring moguls to get their start online in a matter of minutes.

So following the masses, you purchased your special domain and plan to become the next Bill Gates. The only problem is that you have no clue what you are doing! Online marketing of your product and services is an effective and inexpensive way to reach customers and build your business. So don't waste time if you are not committed to creating a site that conveys that you are serious.

Start by establishing standards on tone, messaging, appearance etc. No one wants to conduct business with a company that does appear serious and committed to the customer.

- What is the tone for your website? Fun and satirical? Or stately and professional? You will only have one opportunity to make a first impression with your customer, so don't waste it on a website that will not speak to them. Develop a website tone that will resonate with your audience, not just appeal to your personal taste.

- Is it error free? No one wants to navigate through a site that is full of errors and typos. A poorly written website says that you just don't care! You don't care enough about your product or customer to spell correctly or to make sure that your images are not distorted. You don't care that your competitors now have the edge because you didn't recognize the difference between ensure/insure.

- Hire help! No one said that you had to go it alone, so hire some help that know how to make your site have a true presence online. Look online and ask around for web designers. Make a list of your web needs and partner with someone who can make it happen.

Planning, time, and effort go along way when starting up your own website.
